I’m not sure how I did it, but I got him to like tofu. It just happened one day when we were getting lunch. He ordered it in his food, too. I had to really try to not look at him in surprise, and he looked back at me, smiled, and said, “Tooofu.” I said, “I didn’t know you liked tofu. When did this happen?” “I don’t know, you’ve ordered it before, and I liked it. I’ve been getting it in my food for a while now.” Pleasantly surprised, I found a table once we had gotten our food, and he thanked me for introducing him to it, and all those other random foods, right after he ate his first bite.
=)
My floor and I played Apples to Apples last night, and I won some pretty awesome Green Cards:
Supposedly the ones you win are supposed to describe you? I’m okay with that.
About a week ago, there were weather predictions saying it would snow for days. Naturally, because this was something I would have loved, we did not get snow for days: we got rain. Wind, rain, and cold. When I say wind, I mean WIND. That’s what probably caused our power outages yesterday. Now, I can’t assume we have power back on the other parts of campus, but we do have one thing that made me smile and send my friend a text in all caps when I looked out my window this morning: SNOW! I don’t know when it snowed. I don’t know for how long. I can’t see any snow falling right now, but I can hope. And I do hope we get more that I’m awake to see fall.
I was watching TV this morning when I got a text message from the school. Apparently we have no power? My dorm, the one that usually loses power if any building on campus does, has power and we’re fine… It’s good to know that we won’t always lose power of there’s an outage on campus!
What’s the worst part about all this? We have no snow. It’s rained for about two days straight. So why is there no power? There has been some massively strong winds. Alright hilltops! I do love the noise our wind tunnels on each floor make if someone has their door open.
It may have taken me a little while to stumble across this awesome time-waster, but now that I have, study time looks a little brighter. I love it’s old-style graphics and play. While it doesn’t last very long, trying to complete it in less clicks than before can be addicting. Why it’s on ArmorGames and not AddictingGames is beyond me.
Well, that just threw me off a little bit. I don’t usually pay attention during commercial breaks, but one commercial came on that made me make a double-take. A kid I went to school with was in a commercial I have been seeing for years, I just never realized that was his dad in the commercial. They must have re-made it recently.
So yeah, and now I continue on with my daily life.
Once again, I’m taking the wonderful trip from school to home. As we pulled into one of the stops, I noticed it had started to snow. This snow is no where near as heavy as the last snow fall we had while I was riding the train, and it’s virtually impossible to see while the train is moving. I’m not too sure it’s still snowing. Regardless, we’re supposed to get a lot of snow, and I mean a lot! I’m really excited. As you all know, I love the snow, and snow falls are one of my favourite things.
When we pass by woods, most of the still have some snow between the trees. It’s so beautiful and I want to get off the train and go run through the trees. There’s not a lot of snow elsewhere. Every so often, I’ll see a pile of snow that was plowed a few feet high and is now one-third its initial height. I remember the days when the snow would last… What’s happening to our planet?
And the people on it? I’m from, and go to school in, a place where snow and cold, somewhat harsh winters are a definite guarantee every year. Someone, this morning it was a custodian and a student, will say: “They say we’re going to get a lot of snow today,” or something to that effect. I’ll give them a big smile and say: “I know! I’m really excited.” The next thing I’ll get from them is a funny look, almost of disgust, and always the question: “You like the snow?!” I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t! My school is north of my home, and that will come up in conversation before the “I love the snow” part comes in. Somehow, they’re still very surprised by my excitement. Why on Earth would I go to a school north of my hometown if I wanted to get away from the snow? Then some comment about how much they dislike it will come. Depending on who I’m talking to, I’ll either apologize that they don’t share my love for snow, or tell them that they shouldn’t be here if they dislike it so much. Many of the most surprised ones are adults past college and what I don’t understand about them is why they haven’t moved?
You know what’s funny? I almost never heard complaints about the snow from the people in my hometown. Every so often there’s a complaint about how cold it is. Again, I’ll have the same response. Cold means snow. It also means I can wear the clothes I like more often, and that I’ll have an easier time being comfortable tempurature-wise. The summer means I’m miserable. It’s far too hot, and it gets muggy. While I might have a hard time keeping myself warm in the winter, I much prefer that over the over-heating I do in the summer. Humans weren’t built for heat, why do you think we sweat? Granted, we also weren’t built for the cold I crave, that’s why we shiver. At least shivering doesn’t smell…
So, I’m catching glimpses of more and more flakes falling outside my window. There’s more of a visible dusting on the ground. I am happy.
Last night, I had a program that was supposed to be a King of Pizza kind of thing where we were going to order pizza and watch a bunch of King of Queens. So… neither the pizza nor the anything-watching happened, but I did have 9 people show up, so that was good. After we got too cold to stay in the dorm’s kitchen, we moved to my room for some good old In The Groove 2. It was a pretty successful program that kept me up until 1. That’s okay, I guess, but I need to start sticking to my schedule… which involves going to bed at the college-unrealistic hour of 10p.
