Classy Gamer: Hardcore gamers unite against the casual blight
I read this almost a week ago, and just re-found it to write about it.
This makes me sad. You are not a gamer in my eyes if you play games casually; I do not care if you had to pay for Diner Dash or not, it doesn’t count. The fact that Zynga made it so far it deeply heart-breaking, and I was very upset after reading this. Granted, there’s nothing I can do about it now, so that blew over fairly quickly. However, I have felt this way for a long time, and I will continue to feel this way: playing Farmville and other flash games ((I don’t care what they are)) does not make you a gamer. Animal Crossing, Wii Sports, and Wii Fit do not count as “gamer” games. Supposedly, the average gamer age is 35, I think. Is it so high because we have a lot of old-school gamers that are evolving with their games? Or is it so high because 50 year-olds are now playing Wii Sports and Wii Fit? I’m very, very scared it’s the latter…
